Lasers have been playing an increasingly significant role in oral surgery due to their numerous benefits, such as minimized bleeding, reduced swelling, minimal post-operative discomfort, and the ability to resume normal activities sooner than with a conventional scalpel surgery. The lasers makes surgery shorter, simpler and more effective. Lasers are a “new & different scalpel” (optical knife, light scalpel). The application of lasers has been recognized as an adjunctive or alternative approach in soft tissue surgeries. Lasers treatments have been shown to be superior to conventional mechanical approaches.
