Since 2014, the debate on the medicinal use of marijuana has gained a new factor that was important to increase controversy and to further relativize the negative discourses that persist on marijuana: cannabidiol (CBD). This active ingredient of Cannabis sativa has been used in Brazil as a remedy for the treatment of serious chronic diseases.This study aims to analyze the constitution of discourses on medicinal marijuana in the Brazilian media in recent years, with a view to identifying how these discourses authorize or disallow the use of the drug.

João Victor P. D. Rocha es licenciado en Letras (Lengua Portuguesa), tiene una maestría y un doctorado en Lingüística. Es profesor de la Universidad de Brasilia e investiga los discursos sobre la marihuana desde 2011.
