Training manual “Modern Operating Systems - Software for Computers and Media Devices” was prepared for foreign students studying graduate and undergraduate programs at Moscow Polytechnical University and other state universities in Russia. The aim of the manual is to improve training of students in the field of computer science and information technology. The study materials, presented in the publication, comply with the State Educational Standard for training of third-generation bachelors and masters and are intended to improve practical training in the following specialties: computer science and information technology, information systems and technology, journalism, publishing and editing. The manual provides theoretical information and practical recommendations for individual work using modern computers, tablets, smartphones and other mobile devices. In the process of completing practical tasks, appropriate free or specially configured licensed software is used.
