We live in a world of communication, where the wireless communication is a key part. Today the demand of wireless communication increasing day by day. Wireless communication has changed the working environment. It is the transfer of information over a distance without using the electrical conductors or wires. For the communication purpose antenna is used as an important element for transmitting or receiving the radio waves. To handle the rapid increase in demand of wireless communication application compact size, multiband, broadband antennas are required with appropriate characteristics. These antennas are required to support the different devices such as cell phones, tablets, laptops, Bluetooth earphones, game pad controllers, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) receivers, security sensors etc. are very common in our daily life. The function of an Antenna is used to convert guided electromagnetic waves into electrical signals and vice versa. Antennas are essential part in the communication systems therefore understanding their basics are important.

Gaurav Dhiman received his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor with the Department of Computer Science, Government Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala. He has published more than 30 peer-review research papers (indexed in SCI-SCIE).
