Medical images play an important role in telemedicine applications. Medical images like magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound are corrupted during acquisition and transmission. In the field of medical image processing denoising of images still remains a challenge for researchers. The quality of the image is degraded in the presence of noise. Removal of noise from the medical images is a critical issue for analysis and interpretation. In this book a new technique called Spatial Adaptive Mask Filter is discussed to remove noise from medical images while preserving the edge information.
