Women have achieved higher levels of education than ever before and today their representation in the global work force has been increased. Yet their share of management positions remains unacceptably low. Gender inequality or disparities between men and women is more pronounced in the developing countries of the world. Women’s participation in management and administrative posts is around 15% in Africa and 13% in Asia and the pacific. An ever-increasing number of researchers are investigating the reasons for this slow advancement of women in management as well as the growing phenomenon of female entrepreneurship. both men and women now recognize gender diversity as a performance driver, while also showing that actual implementation of gender diversity measures in corporations remains limited.

Dr.Worku Mekonnen Tadesse is an associate professor of human resource management at School of Commerce in Addis Ababa University. He has taught management courses at tertiary higher educational institutions for more than 25 years. He produced a numbers of articles in internationally reputable journals and also authored a number of books.
