In order to survive in the competitive market, the textile industry must concentrate on the quality besides production and economy keeping the yarn breakage to a minimum level is key to increase profit and quality. For up-gradation of quality and productivity every problem needs to be analyzed and necessary solution is to be evolved. Presence of faults in yarn is major obstacle in achieving appropriate quality and insufficient productivity in downstream processes. Some of the yarn faults are acceptable and some are highly detrimental to subsequent processing and use. So it is necessary to study the nature faults and there associate problems.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

S K SInha, Professor, Department of Textile Technology, National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar (Punjab) INDIA, holds a doctorate degree in Textile Technology. He joined the faculty at NIT Jalandhar in 1991. His research activity are devoted to the mechanics of fibre assemblies, characterization of textile materials, design and development.
