Solving economic dispatch problems normally involved optimization process. So, new techniques are continuously being developed that result in a more efficient system operation. As a good global optimal tool, evolutionary algorithm (EA) is widely used in the recent past in many engineering fields. EAs differ from traditional optimization techniques in that they involve a search from a "population" of solutions, not from a single point. In this work, genetic algorithm (GA) is also used for optimization of economic load dispatch and the results are compared comprehensively with Classical Lagrangian Method (LMM).

Dr. (Mrs.) S. Chaine received the B.E. degree in Electrical Engineering OSME, Keonjhar, India in 2005 and M.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Electronics & drives) from the BPUT, Rourkela, Odisha, India in 2011. She completed Ph.D. from VSSUT Burla, Odisha, India in the year 2017. Her current research interests include AGC,PSOC,RER.
