This book discusses methods for designing shades to avoid solar and ultraviolet radiation, targeting people in areas with high occurrences of sunburn and skin cancer. A method for determining what degree of protection performance these shades have against solar and ultraviolet is also described, whether these are in the design stage or already in use. Many cases from northern and southern latitudes between 0 and 40 degrees have been included so that this book is useful for people in areas around the world with high solar and ultraviolet radiation. As a teaching material, I have also provided a practice section for higher-grade elementary-school students and junior high-school students to design and evaluate their own shades.
