All about LIPEDEMA - Softcover

For many years I have been involved in the surgical treatment of lipedema. The driving force for this was to be able to observe the enormous improvement in the quality of life of my patients. At the beginning of the treatment, many tears regularly flowed from the patients during the first consultation, which were an expression of the suffering of the past years, the wry looks of others, the misinterpretation of the physical fullness, the endless sadness about limited mobility, stress and reduced freedom in so many areas of life. I have seen so many women who have bravely endured the very strenuous procedure of sometimes several mega liposuctions with liposuctioned quantities of up to 10 litres. The intermediate successes and the final results made the tears flow again but now transformed into tears of joy. I was often so moved that I almost had to cry with them. The patients regularly experience a real metamorphosis, freed from a corset, out of a body that is foreign to them, liberated and equipped with a new self-confidence. These situations motivated me again and again in such a way that I made it my task to make the subject of lipedema more widely known to the general public, to give numerous lectures and to constantly improve the surgical method and optimise all the processes surrounding the operation and the disease. In particular, it was important for me to meet the increasing demands of patients in terms of aesthetics. I trained colleagues in order to be able to offer a good therapy to as many patients as possible. I am always fascinated by the openness and courage with which lipedema patients present themselves in the social media and in public. I am pleased that this book was written with the help of many participants, patients and relatives and I am convinced that it is the first of its kind. It will be a help and a guide for many patients to better understand the disease and thus also themselves, to find connection and help and also to experience more understanding in public. Dominik v.
