Über den Autor:

Fascinated with travel, spurred by curiosity and with his camera in hand, Bernd Ruecker, decided to explore the cities and metropolises of Europe and the world. When he returned from his wanderings, he founded Vagabond Books with the aim of creating beautiful books that took readers on a visual and emotional journey through these great cities. Richly decorated portals between plain, red facades flank the colourful goings-on in the medina of Marrakech. Donkey-cart drivers, pedestrians, scooter riders and cyclists swarm through the narrow streets in traditional garments, while a mixture of oriental scents and sounds wafts over the scenery. This stunningly illustrated and evocative photo book takes the reader on a journey through the rich diversity of Marrakech, walking in the footsteps of Celia - the protagonist of the accompanying narrative who discovers not only genuine treasures behind the scenes of the city but also a whole new world that will change her life forever.

Buchbeschreibung Vagabond Books Dez 2013, 2013. Buch. Buchzustand: Neu. 332x307x32 mm. Her agent has terminated her contract, and she is forced to sell her small house in Beverly Hills. When shortly afterwards her mother dies, Celia travels to Marrakech to sell the townhouse she has inherited. But little does she know, the magic of the city and her encounter with Hafid are about to The light made use of the crumbling plaster of the façades to highlight structures and draw map-like patterns on the exposed layers of paint. The few intact panes of a divided-light window played defiantly with the reflections of sunlight as if oblivious to the dilapidation of the building around them. After finishing her studies and ending a difficult relationship, Julia seeks distraction by visiting her brother, who has recently resettled in Lisbon. The citys juxtaposition of beauty and dilapidation not only captivates her, but also takes her on a journey of self-discovery. In the process she happens upon the introverted tram driver Marcos. An encounter that would change her life forever. An emotional photo essay. 302 pp. Englisch, Deutsch. Artikel-Nr. 9783943254129
