The author, Harald Böhmer, born 1931 in Delmenhorst in Northern Germany, natural scientist, lived and worked for more than 35 years in Turkey, at first as a teacher and later as researcher at the laboratory for natural dyes and dye analysis at Marmara-University in Istanbul. He is an internationally recognised expert for Turkish carpets and textiles, the dyes used in these weavings and dye analysis on textiles.
