The author is designated "a Carthusian" on the title page, in accordance with his order's custom of anonymous publication. The Silence of the Lotus: Collected Poems 1964-2008 contains a selection of poetry stretching from 1964 to 2008. It includes selections from thirteen small collections of poetry and three books of children's poems. The book is part of Professor James Hogg's Analecta Cartusiana series. It should be noted that Anna Maksjan, the author of The Mystical Dimensions of the Poetry of John Bradburne and the Carthusian, though uncredited as an editor, is noted as having played a role in the compilation of the book.
