Objective of this study is the production of nanocomposites by dispersing nanoparticles in liquid epoxy resin. By embedding nanoparticles into the matrix, the reaction kinetics, the curing behaviour and the mechanical properties of the final composite can significantly be improved. In order to prepare the colloidal suspensions, the stressing of particles by shear mixing techniques, turbulent eddies, implosion of cavitation bubbles, ultrasound or impacts is researched. Furthermore the influence of shearing at one plane or in-between two planes is analysed. At this, the process is analysed regarding the maximum processable solids content, the finest product quality, the narrowest width of particle distribution and the minimal provideable specific energy.
