Thomas Scheibitz hat nicht nur Künstler seiner eigenen Generation ausgewählt (Dirk Bell, Thomas Demand, Manfred Pernice, Andreas Slominski und Peter Strauß), sondern auch eine Reihe älterer, in Ostdeutschland geborener Künstler, in die Ausstellung einbezogen: Carl Friedrich Claus, Hermann Glöckner, Manfred Kuttner, A.R. Penck und Eugene Schönebeck. Entwürfe und Zeichnungen des jugoslawischen Architekten Bogdan Bogdanovich (geb. 1922) und des Schriftstellers Arno Schmidt (1914-79), deren Arbeiten über den Bereich der bildenden Kunst hinausgehen, vermitteln einen Eindruck von den vielfältigen Interessen des Künstlers. Hinzu kommen die international anerkannten Künstler Tacita Dean (geb. UK, 1965), Mathew Hale (geb. UK, 1962) und Öyvind Fahlström (geb. Brasilien, 1928, gest. Schweden, 1976) sowe der strukturalistische Filmemacher Paul Sharits (USA, 1943-93) u.a. The group exhibition selected by Thomas Scheibitz, one of Germany’s most important contemporary artists, exposes rare and unseen works by a wide range of international creators while providing also insight into the working processes of the artist himself. The publication reveals the motivation and inspiration behind Thomas Scheibitz’s paintings, sculptures and works on paper and introduces various approaches to drawing as used by artists, architects, film-makers and writers over the past 50 years. The exhibition will include sketches, drawings, notes and working journals not usually available for public viewing.
