A Cloud-Based Augmented Reality Framework for Applications in Industry 4.0

As one of the pillars of Industry 4.0, Augmented Reality (AR) has the potential of improving workspaces and different processes efficiency. Nevertheless, AR is still not in real implementation. This dissertation presents a new approach for developing interactive AR applications by providing a novel framework with a redesign of the way AR is implemented. The solution is based on enabling AR to operate within the cloud, converting all AR devices into thin-clients with low-performance requirements.
