For over centuries, the role of the construction industry has been recognized in enabling social, economic and industrial development. Likewise, the construction in Botswana has been a great pillar in transforming the nation. However, like any human endeavour, various challenges have started diminishing its capacity to efficiently and effectively deliver projects. The book uses findings of a study undertaken in the construction industry of Botswana to describe the nature of the industry and its associated challenges. In particular, it describes the challenges associated with the delivery process of public construction projects. The book singles out three major factors as contributing to the problem, the inefficiency and ineffectiveness of clients and service providers and a non-conducive business environment. It discusses in detail the theory, practices, and findings along the three themes.
