Spring 2012 saw the publication of UPON PAPER, an exceptional periodical in every sense of the word. Using an unusual forty-nine-by-sixty-nine-centimeter format and produced with a level of quality reminiscent of an art catalogue, UPON PAPER serves as a platform for international artists and creatives. UPON PAPER-a large-format "object of desire"-is published twice a year, and each edition is dedicated to a single theme. This first edition deals with Los Angeles, a city on the edge of the Western world where not only dreams are "larger than life." Printed on 170-gram illustration printing paper, UPON PAPER is on a par with an art book. With a weight of 2,100 grams and an open format of 98 by 69 centimeters, the publication is an unwieldy object that demands the active involvement of the reader. Each copy is individually packed in a decorative linen-covered case that can also serve as a trade display.
