Inhaltsangabe

The world’s naval fleets have been compressed into a handbook-sized (albeit an 1,000 page handbook!) reference guide renowned and required by mariners and historians the world over. Warships of the World is an efficient and convenient distillation of useful naval intelligence. All the necessary details of the world’s fleet are here. From Egypt to Cyprus, the warships of all countries are listed. The list section containing the main data on the ships, such as name, displacement, length, size of crew, armament, speed, engine, range, armour, etc., extends to over 400 pages, followed by another 400 pages with illustrations. The 850 images included are all printed in colour. 1480 ship sketches on a scale of 1:2000 are included (the ships of less than 60m in length appear in the scale 1:1000). In addition, sea planes, ships and weapons systems, such as radar systems, are all treated. Four pages of colour plates and a flag register of ships shown decide the volume. The text is completely bilingual in German and English. Up-to-date and accurate, this excellent reference guide is both very reasonably priced and easy to use. A must for any naval historian.
