The marburgviruses and ebolaviruses are among the most hazardous pathogens known to mankind. These agents are highly virulent and dangerous to work with; therefore research progress has been rather slow in comparison to other viruses. After the revelation that the former Soviet Union evaluated filoviruses for biological weapons development, interest in defenses against them has reawakened. This book provides the most extensive bibliography review of filovirus research publication to date with special emphasis on foreign literature that has never been summarized. Every aspect of filovirus research, including their history, epidemiology, clinical picture, pathology, molecular biology, and political consideration is reviewed in detail.

Charlotte y Peter Fiell son dos autoridades en historia, teoría y crítica del diseño y han escrito más de sesenta libros sobre la materia, muchos de los cuales se han convertido en éxitos de ventas. También han impartido conferencias y cursos como profesores invitados, han comisariado exposiciones y asesorado a fabricantes, museos, salas de subastas y grandes coleccionistas privados de todo el mundo. The filoviruses (Lake Victoria marburgvirus and ebolaviruses) are etiological agents of severe hemorrhagic fevers with extraordinary high case-fatality rates for humans, chimpanzees, gorillas, and probably other animals.
