The photographs in this book are not a sociogram of camping culture. The pictures are not determined by a serial collection of situations, but by precise, attentive observation of invidiual motifs - an eye directed at people and the way they use their environment. Andrew Phelps kept trying to include nature itself, to show the landscape, the justification for putting camp-site in this particular place.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Andrew Phelps was born in Mesa, Arizona, USA. 1986-91: Studies at Arizona State University with a degree in Fine Art Photography. 1989-90: studies at the Salzburg College, where he also taught since 1994. Numerous exhibitions at home and abroad. Since 1989 he lives and works since as a freelance artist in Salzburg. His work has won numerous awards, such as the promotion prize for photography of the Federal Chancellery (2001) and the promotion price of the "Salzburger Kunstverein".
