The present urbanization process and the population's vulnerability are prominent issues approached in a number of studies regarding climate changes. This book aims at creating vulnerability profiles based on residences in districts of three municipalities of the Metropolitan Region of Baixada Santista (MRBS), in Brazil: Peruíbe, Praia Grande and Santos. The MRBS has presented an intense economic growth and a rapid pace in the process of urban expansion, with areas being constantly incorporated into the urban area. In order to create the vulnerability profiles, special emphasis is given to those districts' participation in the city's social-spatial dynamics, through analysis of the population's social, economical, and demographic characteristics. The profiles' descriptions were based on the “Grade of Membership” (GoM) and the 2010 Demographic Census.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Dr. Robson Silva has obtained his Master Science in Demography in 2009 and PhD degree in Geography in 2013. Since then, he has worked with vulnerability profiles and the impacts of climate changes in urban areas. He has published several articles in respected journals about these themes.
