Information is very important to the overall academic development of university students. Libraries are established in the universities to meet the information needs of students, staff and other stakeholders. In order to make library collections widely accessible to users, the librarians have to make sure that users have the skills and knowledge to search and retrieve information from the library collection. Furthermore, library orientation should be a gateway for first year students to be familiar with the library. This book is dedicated to my family and I could have not gone this far without their support. I give thanks to almighty God who gave me strength and faith to complete this book. I also give a special thanks to my supervisor Mr. L.A Makgahlela for the supervision and guidance throughout the completion of this book. I also give thanks to Ms. J.M Ntsala (Programme Coordinator and Information Studies Lecturer) and Ms. M.R Mahlatji (Information Studies Lecturer), for their guidance that contributed towards the completion of this book and always being a source of motivation.
