A novel, precise, accurate and rapid isocratic reversed phase high performance liquid chromatographic method was developed and validated for the simultaneous estimation of Atorvastatin, Fenofibrate and its active metabolite, Fenofibric acid in human plasma. The method showed good separation and resolution for Atorvastatin, Fenofibrate and Fenofibric acid with hypersil ODS C18 column (4.6 x 250mm, 5µm) using acetonitrile and water adjusted to pH 2.5 with ortho-phosphoric acid (85: 15) as mobile phase at a flowrate of 1 mL/min and wavelength of 288nm. The calibration curves were linear over the concentration ranges of 24 - 6000ng/mL for Atorvastatin and Fenofibrate, 1.26 - 315 ng/mL for Fenofibric acid. All the analytes were separated witin 7 min. The proposed method could be applied for the routine laboratory analysis of Atorvastatin, Fenofibrate and Fenofibric acid in human plasma samples and analysis of Atorvastatin and Fenofibrate in pharmaceutical formulations.
