This research explores the efficacy of use of random oriented geofiber reinforcement in controlling swell shrink behaviour of expansive soil. The effect of fiber content (fc), which was varied as 0.25% and 0.50% on rate of heave, swell potential and swelling pressure was studied in the case of oedometer samples(diameter = 60mm, height = 20mm). Moreover, the effect of the aspect ratio (length to width ratio of geofiber) which was varied as 3, 6 and 10 on swelling behaviour was also investigated. Influence of sample thickness on heave was investigated using cylindrical samples compacted in Proctor‟s mould (diameter =100mm) in both unreinforced and fiber-reinforced conditions. Further, these samples compacted in Proctor‟s mould were subjected to alternate wetting and drying cycles to simulate field condition. Useful data were obtained.
