This book is based on the study of an aquatic ecosystem model through ecological goal functions: exergy and ascendency. The concepts of these goal functions have been explained from the basics. The interesting self-organizing property of ecosystem has also been observed mathematically. Simultaneously, this book highlights advanced mathematical analysis of the model to get an overview about different ecological parameters and their ranges for which the model shifts from ordered state to chaotic state or vice versa. This book will be useful for mathematical ecologists, applied mathematicians and to those who are interested in current research in theoretical biology

Dr. Sandip Mandal has obtained his Ph.D. degree from Visva-BharatiUniversity, India in 2009. Although his academic background is in Physics, he focuses his work in interdisciplinary area. Along with mathematical ecology, his current research interest lies in the field of infectious disease modeling and also in various areas of nonlinear dynamics.
