The current competitive business environment hasforced organizations to consider business processreengineering (BPR) in the quest to achieve dramaticimprovement in their organizational effectiveness. The purpose of this study was to develop anevolutionary and dynamic BPR model referred to asProcess Reengineering Integrated Spiral Model(PRISM). Through an extensive review of existing BPRmodels and a critical analysis of their limitations,PRISM was formulated to overcome problems associatedwith conventional BPR models. PRISM was based ontheory related to evolutionary approaches which weredeemed suitable for BPR. It is a natural way ofworking for BPR modelling because the processredesigner is involved in, and takes account of, thereal world context. PRISM is also adaptable to arapidly changing business environment in a situatedand open-ended manner. This thesis motivates andillustrates the PRISM approach to new principles ofevolutionary BPR. The aim of this concept is toaddress the well-known high failure rate of BPR. Thefamous Boehm's software engineering spiral model wasextended to develop PRISM in the context ofevolutionary BPR.
