This book focuses on the analysis and application ofpermanent magnet (PM) AC motors (including PMsynchronous motor (PMSM) and brushless DC (BLDC)motor) drive system.The first topic of the book is to analyze the PMSMusing finite element analysis (FEA). Flux-weakeningcapability is evaluated to prevent theemagnetization of the permanent magnet rotor. Thesecond topic is to develop an adaptive full-speedrange control system of the PMSM motor using verylow cost hybrid sensor technology. Full-loadstarting and over the rated-speed operations aregiven more consideration. Third, a novel full-speedrange control system for the brushless DC motor isdeveloped. Unlike the conventional BLDC currentcontrol, which have poor performance during the fluxweakening operation, the new method can achieve thesame controllability as in the sinusoidal PM motorover the flux weakening range. Finally the detailimplementation of developed technology to industrialapplication is illustrated.This book can be a good reference to people who isinterest in PM machine drive system.
