GUI test automation is a major challenge forsoftware testing and test automation. Most of thecurrent GUI test automation tools are partiallyautomated. They require the involvement of the usersin several stages of the testing process.This research is about developing a framework and anapplication for user interface testing with theleast user involvement. Fully user interface testingthat does not need user supervision is not apractical solution. Users can be involved and arerequired to test some aspects of the user interfacevalidation. GUI?s code has some characteristics thatdistinguish it from the rest of the project code.Generating test cases from the GUI code requiresdifferent algorithms from those usually applied intest-case generation. We developed several GUI testgeneration automated algorithms that do not need anyuser involvement and that ensure code or branchcoverage in the generated test cases. The test casesare generated from an XML GUI model or tree thatrepresents the GUI structure. GUI execution andverification is accomplished through simulating theuser interactions and then comparing the output ofthe execution to the input.
