This text introduces the fundamentals of the classical elements of stellar evolution and structure, providing an overview with enough detail for students to understand the general picture, while allowing prospective specialists a taste of many aspects of the discipline. Because the text is intended for beginning students of stellar physics, the authors steer the book clear of intensive mathematics and physics, preferring to solidly develop portions of important theory that are often overlooked in typical courses, such as stellar energy sources (nuclear physics) and mixing length theory of convection (including modern multidimensional numerical experiments in convection). Important elements such as the effects of rotation, magnetic fields, and asteroseismology are not neglected. The text contains the source code for two useful programs, ZAMS (for calculating zero-age hydrogen main sequence models) and PULS (to study the seismological properties of the ZAMS models). Some chapters include exercises.
