This text is based on lectures presented at a workshop held at Hewlett Packard, Boeblingen, Germany, in May 1990. The primary purpose of the workshop was to provide a forum for the exchange of technology between universities and industrial CAD/CAM centres. The workshop brought together international experts in the area of geometric modelling, industrial designers and developers of industrial applications.
