Unbelievable, we have reached the seventh edition of the XP2k+n conference! We started at the outset of the new millennium, and we are still proving that agile pr- esses were neither a millennium bug nor a YAF (yet another fad). In its first editions, this conference was a get-together of a few pioneers who - bated about how to make agile processes and methods accepted by the mainstream researchers and practitioners in software engineering. Now agile approach to software development has been fully accepted by the software engineering community and this event has become the major forum for understanding better the implications of agility in software development and proposing extensions to the mainstream approaches. These two aspects were fully reflected in this year’s conference. They were - flected in the keynote speeches, which covered the background work done starting as early as the early eighties by Barry Boehm, definition of the field by Kent Beck, a successful industrial application in a success story by Sean Hanly, the perspective and the future of agile methods in large corporations by Jack Järkvik, and even some - sightful views from a philosopher, Pekka Himanen.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Chalisa Veesommai Sillberg is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Tampere University s GPT Laboratory, contributing to the Generative Artificial Intelligence in Business Support (GENT) project. She has extensive experience in information and data analysis across diverse environmental studies, employing methods such as semantic computing, database management, and machine learning. Her current role primarily involves working on the EU AI Act to support a safe environment for AI systems in SMEs.Kai-Kristian Kemell is a Postdoctoral Researcher and Head of the GPT-Lab in Tampere University. His overarching research interest is studying Software Engineering (SE) processes and especially developing SE practices and methods. In this regard, his focus has recently been on using AI for SE, with a focus on Generative AI.Pekka Sillberg is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Tampere University. During his academic career, he has worked on various research projects, creating and designing different pilots and software applications for various needs and environments. His current interests are in technology and hardware to ensure smooth operation of software engineering and development.Mika Saari is a researcher and an educator, working as the vice-head of the GPT-lab in Tampere University.  His expertise spans various areas, including the Internet of Things (IoT), sensor networks, and artificial intelligence. Her academic journey has been marked by curiosity, innovation, and a commitment to advancing knowledge.Katri Harjuveteläinen is a legal professional with extensive experience in AI and emerging technologies regulation, combined with deep expertise in data protection. She has served as legal counsel (AI & Data Protection Lead) and Chief DPO at Tampere University, advising on AI, data protection and research regulatory compliance. She is also pursuing a doctoral degree in Law at the University of Eastern Finland, where her research examines data protection in scientific and medical contexts.Muhammad Waseem is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Vice Head of the GPT Laboratory at Tampere University, Finland. He earned his PhD in Software Engineering from Wuhan University, China, and has extensive experience in software development, teaching, and applied AI research. His work focuses on leveraging Generative AI for software engineering development and research, closely collaborating with industry to address real-world challenges. Dr. Waseem has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications in leading venues such as JSS, IST, ICSE, and EASE.Pekka Abrahamsson is a Full Professor of Software Engineering at Tampere University, Finland, and one of the most cited scholars in his field. He leads GPT-Labs, where his research focuses on generative and agentic AI in software-intensive systems, with an emphasis on trust, autonomy, and strategic resilience. He has held tenured professorships in Norway, Italy, and Finland, and was the first Software Engineering Professor elected to the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters. Manuel Mazzara is the Director of the Institute of Software Development and Engineering and the Head of the International Cooperation Office at Innopolis University, Russia. His research interests include software engineering, service-oriented architecture and programming, concurrency theory, formal methods, and software verification. He cooperated with European and US industry, plus governmental and inter-governmental organizations such as the United Nations, always at the edge between science and software production.Giancarlo Succi is currently Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Innopolis University, Russia. His research interests are in empirical software engineering, open source, mobile and energy aware systems, software reuse, and software product lines. He has taught a variety of academic and industrial courses throughout his career in software engineering, programming languages, and mobile, distributed, and centralized operating systems. He has organized various international conferences and other scientific and educational events. Alexander Tormasov is the Rector of Innopolis University, Russia; Chairman of the Theoretical and Applied Computer Science Chair, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Russia; Dr. sci (habil.) in physics and mathematics, Full Professor. His research interests are virtualization of operating systems including new approaches, security in distributed networks, cloud systems and other computer science topics. He authored 174+ US patents in different areas of virtualization, operating systems, security and computer science applications.
