Stephen Emmott verantwortet als wissenschaftlicher Leiter eines Microsoftlabors die weltweit führenden Forschungsprojekte auf dem Gebiet der Computational Science (Rechnergestützte Naturwissenschaften). Zugleich lehrt er das Fach in Oxford. 2012 gelang ihm mit seinem Bühnenstück "Ten Billion" ein Sensationserfolg am Royal Court Theatre in London.
