The book is designed to introduce operations research techniques to students of health administration and planning. The eight chapters deal with each of the operations research problem types by first defining the problem and then describing the operations research techniques used when confronted with the problem. Each chapter then provides a brief review of published examples of applications together with a summary of the techniques. This is the first text to deal with all the techniques using health-related examples. The book provides a general overview of operations research starting at the most basic level and is suitable for use in a one semester graduate or undergraduate operations research course in health administration, health planning or public health. It assumes a basic knowledge of statistics.
