Inhaltsangabe

Postmodernism is increasingly gaining acceptance as the latest global style, movement, or direction of art practice and academism. Recently, a number of art institutions (universities) in Europe, America, Asia, and Africa, introduced doctorate programme in studio areas, in which art practice is considered as research. Its scope extends to both the practice and theory (writing); highlighting two concepts, conceptualism and practice-led research, in the contemporary art discourse. As a new programme however, standard approach and nomenclatures in this research and art practice are still being nourished. Reflecting on a doctoral research, in which sculpture forms in installation were extracted from the contemporary conceptions of a moribund Omabe tradition to enhance practice, this book demonstrates that method and approach to research in art practice is flexible. Through practice-based research technique, involving: previous collections and documentations of unusual developments around Omabe tradition; reflection on popular statements of and about Omabe; participatory observation of Omabe-related activities; interaction with the key players in the affairs of Omabe.
