Efficient fertilizer management through soil testing is important to access the production potential of crops. Since plants derive nutrients from both soil and fertilizer, hence it is necessary to devise strategies for minimizing the wastage of fertilizer use to maintain nutrient status of the soil through their judicious and economic use. Therefore, the Inductive approach research in soil test calibration is to provide a strong base and sound service to farmers, promoting fertilizer use efficiency, balanced fertilization and soil fertility maintenance. The goal of this book is to impart to the student a thorough understanding of plant nutrition, soil fertility and nutrient management so that she or he can (1) study the relationship between soil test values and crop response to fertilizer, (2) obtain a basis for making fertilizer recommendations for target yield of crop, (3) evaluate the joint use of chemical fertilizer and organic manure to enhance nutrient use efficiency, (4) evaluate various soil test methods for their suitability under field conditions, (5) derive a basis for making fertilizer recommendation for a whole cropping sequence based on initial soil test values.
