This book describes a rare breed of sheep viz Purgi reared at an altitude of 19000 feet from mean sea level in the cold arid region of Himalayas. Purgi is probably the most hardy breed of sheep which is able to survive at an extreme temperature of -50 degree Celsius. Purgi is a live example of organically developed breed without any any chemical intervention in unorganized farming. This book elucidates the socioeconomic status and life style of people known as Purg dwelling in the cold arid region of ladakh. It also describes the food security in the remotest areas of Himalaya.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

DR. Firdous. Ahmad. Baba is currently pursuing Ph.D. in college of Veterinary Sciences And Animal Husbandry SKUAST Kashmir. He did his B.V.Sc. in 2013 and M.V.Sc. in 2015. He is also a diploma holder in Agriclinics and agribusiness Centre for Agrientrepreneurship Development (CAD) of National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE).
