The papers comprising this volume are selected from presentations made at the 2001 Conference of the British Association of Lecturers in English for Academic Purposes, which was held at the University of Strathclyde (in Glasgow, Scotland). The role of EAP (English for Academic Purposes) is increasingly important, as higher education institutions consider their linguistic support strategies (both for native and non-native speakers of English), and confront the potential of the world wide web as a scholarly and pedagogic resource. Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
The Editor: Leslie Sheldon, an international educational consultant based in Canada, has published extensively in English for Academic Purposes (particularly with regard to the practical applications of 'e-pedagogy') and English/American Literature. A senior academic manager with substantial experience in the private/public sectors (and a frequent keynote speaker at international conferences), he is Director of the English Language Teaching Division at the University of Strathclyde (retired), and most recently was appointed Visiting Professor at the University of Ottawa.
