ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board, www.istqb.org) is an international, non-profit organization that maintains the leading global certification scheme in the field of software testing. The ISTQB scheme is recognized as one of the most reputable and widely accepted certification programs in the software testing industry. Over the past 20 years, more than 1.4 million ISTQB exams have been conducted in over 130 countries, resulting in the issuance of over 1 million certificates. This underscores the popularity of ISTQB certifications and the overwhelming interest in formalized training and education in the field. Among them, the ISTQB Test Analyst certification accounted for over 4,000 exams in 2024. Von der hinteren Coverseite

Written by the very authors of the ISTQB® Advanced Level Test Analyst syllabus v4.0 (2025), this book offers unmatched insight into both the theory and practice of test analysis. The syllabus itself reflects the latest advancements in the field: it is scientifically grounded, aligned with current academic curricula, and designed to meet the contemporary demands of practical software engineering, including readiness for AI-driven systems.

Building on this strong foundation, the book goes far beyond a simple restatement of syllabus content. It provides clear, detailed explanations of key concepts, supported by numerous practical examples.

The structured presentation is fully aligned with the official syllabus.

A comprehensive case study runs throughout the book, illustrating how analytical techniques can be applied in practice. Readers will also find Python-based examples demonstrating how to automate not only test execution but also test design and data generation, bridging the gap between theory and implementation.

The book addresses the real challenges faced by today’s test analysts, including risk-based testing, test case quality, defect prevention, and the complexities of testing AI-based systems, where traditional test oracles may no longer apply.

Designed as both a professional guide and a certification companion, this book is ideal for software testers seeking to strengthen their analytical capabilities, as well as for candidates preparing for the ISTQB® Certified Tester Advanced Level Test Analyst exam. It includes 72 original sample exam questions and 14 exercises, together with answers, justifications and solutions.
