Missing but not forgotten. The "Missing of the Somme" exhibition marked the 80th aniversary of the official opening of the Thiepval Memorial and the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Historial de la Grande Guerre (Museum of the Great War), housed in the Chateau de Peronne. The exhibition and book tell the story of an individual recorded as missing on each of the 141 days of the Battle of the Somme. The stories are supplemented by personal objects as well as others which illustrate a general remembrance theme. They explore how the fate of these men affected society for many year afterwards and why remembrance continues to be important today.
