During the Second World War, the German navy built five submarines bases on the French Atlantic coast in Brest, Lorient, saint-Nazaire, La Pallice and Bordeaux. In 1943, thes five German bases wera capable of sheltering 98 U-Boote. Lorient alone could hold 30. Né en 1970, Luc Braeuer est ingénieur en informatique et officier de réserve. Avec son frère Marc, il est le créateur de trois musées de la Seconde Guerre mondiale : à Utah Beach en Normandie, à Batz-sur-Mer en Loire-Atlantique et à La Rochelle.
Depuis 1998, il a publié 27 livres principalement sur l histoire des ports de Brest, Lorient et Saint-Nazaire pendant la guerre.
