Thomas Gainsborough (1727-1788) fut l'un des plus importants paysagistes anglais du xviiie siècle. Thomas Gainsborough (1727-1788) was one of the most important English landscape painters of the eighteenth century. A member of the Royal Academy of Arts, he sought naturalness and verisimilitude in his country scenes and portraits of English high society. His light and impulsive touch and his love for nature give an undeniable poetic dimension to his landscapes, which were so little recognized during his lifetime.
