Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Né en 1886 à Albi et mort en 1962 à Ciboure, Pierre Benoît a vécu une partie de son enfance en Algérie et en Tunisie. Licencié ès lettres, il devient fonctionnaire puis grand reporter. Il publie son premier roman, Kœnigsmark, en 1918 puis L’Atlantide (Grand Prix du roman de l’Académie française en 1919). Grand voyageur, romancier fécond, il connaît tout au long de sa vie d’écrivain, un succès exceptionnel. Nombre de ses romans ont été adaptés au cinéma. Il a été élu à l’Académie française le 11 juin 1931.
