Depuis quelques années, le succès de la littérature antillaise va croissant. Dans le même temps, on assiste à un renouveau de cette littérature. C'est pourquoi nous proposons ici des textes inédits qui, d'une manière ou d'une autre, ont tous trait au thème central de cette récente orientation littéraire : le clivage entre monde de l'oral et monde de l'écrit. Les textes littéraires proprement dits, des nouvelles dans la plupart des cas, sont suivis de réflexions théoriques des auteurs sur le même sujet. Celles-ci témoignent d'une prise de conscience du caractère original de la littérature antillaise, née à un carrefour culturel, lieu de rencontre entre Amérindiens, colons européens, esclaves africains et ouvriers indiens.
