Une génération revenait de la guerre, écoeurée d'hier, curieuse de demain, de ceux qui sauraient l'expliquer à elle-même, lui révéler le monde nouveau, lui faire l'inventaire géographique de son logis mal connu, la planète. Si les NUITS et RIEN QUE LA TERRE reçurent un bon accueil, le mérite en revient moins à l'auteur qu'aux circonstances : un succès n'est souvent que la rencontre d'un homme et de son époque.
