The possibility of linear approximation of a map is at the heart of calculus and main constructions of calculus have their roots in linear algebra. The opposite statement may seem paradoxical. However, in 2008, when I realized that I could not solve the riddle of linear map in noncommutative algebra, I began to study noncommutative calculus, where linear maps emerge naturally. The results obtained later indicate that this was the only right step.
