What is the short background to the GSCOP book?A code of practice was introduced by the UK Government to enable suppliers to fear UK supermarkets less. This code is called ‘GSCOP’ – ‘The Groceries Supply Code of Practice’. Introduced in 2010 the bill was passed to help promote better collaboration between major supermarkets in the UK and their suppliers. Ultimately it protects suppliers better and equalises the balance a little. 2. Who should read the GSCOP book?People that work in the UK Grocery Industry. Specifically Sales Directors, Category Managers, and National Account Managers to major UK supermarkets need to understand the 'rules of the game' that they play in, because how can they call 'foul play' if they don't know the rules?
