This is a story of a fictitious Wheatbelt country town in Western Australia. A young man, who has been injured, both physically and mentally has returned back to Perth after a vicious attack in Afghanistan and has to get used to catching up with his wife and two young boys. The strain is too much and he and his wife divorce. By the nature of the way his wife has left him, Jeremy, the war veteran, has complete custody of the boys. When the house has to be sold, he is so very thankful that he has inherited a run-down house in Wallaby Creek, which used to be his uncles. With his tail between his legs he has to drop his standards and start all over again. His next-door neighbor becomes a God-send and that with some others in the country town he starts to heal. His boys are now late teens and are made welcome because of their prowess on the football field, and there is romance in the air. There are also renewed friendships that blossom into something else.This has a happy ending, and is not a cliffhanger.
