Mike Phillips lived an extraordinary life. He failed in his dream to become a high school football star and in romance with the girl next door, then went on to mentor a group of misfits called the Irregulars, turned to heavy drinking but eventually overcame it, worked to rescue prostitutes and homeless street kids in New York City, served as a drug abuse counselor for those in jail, developed an incredible ministry to widows, and donated an astounding quarter of a million dollars to overseas missions to help the world’s poor—all on a social workers’ salary.
At the heart of Mike’s struggle was a deep, dark secret of childhood sexual abuse and the severe anorexia it led to and which eventually took his life. Mike’s intense faith, spiritual journals, and spiritual writings continue to inspire, and a miracle has been attributed to his prayers.
Did a recovered alcoholic, anorexic, sex abuse survivor and champion of the poor have conversations with Jesus?
See for yourself.
