Mia is a talented high school music teacher and an adept equestrian who lives on a ranch in the small town of Ojai, California. 

Owen is an internationally famous composer and conductor with a questionable reputation.

During a chance encounter on a riding trail, Mia has an unpleasant confrontation with Owen who is riding recklessly and endangering other riders. Owen is caught off-guard,

offended but intrigued. Mia and Owen learn of a mutual connection that softens their initial hostility: Mia’s best friend is marrying one of Owen’s friends. They often find themselves at the same events, and despite many conflicts and clashes between them, they are drawn to each other. Both have had disappointments from past bitter relationships and are guarded with their hearts. Gradually they start enjoying each other’s company and begin to fall in love.

But then, Owen uncovers an essential secret about Mia’s family that even Mia doesn’t know. He suspects that when Mia finds out that he knew the truth and did not tell her she will never forgive him. On the other hand, the revelation could complicate the dynamics between all individuals involved, and could end his relationship with Mia.
